Sorority Colors Campus in 5K

Georgia Southern was a tad more colorful Oct 29 when Delta Phi Epsilon hosted their annual Color The Campus 5K

The Georgia Southern sorority hosts this event every year in October,  in order to bring awareness to Cystic Fibrosis; a lung disorder that produces mucus and digestive juices essentially blocking airways. Brett Thompson, a member of Delta Phi Epsilon states, “ This event is very personal to our group because, a few years ago we had a member, Caroline Hillburne, with cystic fibrosis and it's nice to see through our efforts that she has new treatment opportunities.

Participants of all backgrounds participated in the run.  Watson Hark, a Georgia Southern graduate student, was the first to finish the race in under 20 minutes. Hark stated “ This was a great event for me and my wife, we had watched the documentary 66 roses and it inspired us to do more for CF”.

The 5k starting point was the Pavilion at the Recreational Activity center, where they continued down Register Road onto the student pedestrian eventually rounding the Rotunda and finishing back at the Pavilion. It has been calculated that Delta Phi Epsilon raised over $5000 at the run and intends on relaunching the event next year.
